How Ported2Browser works
Three lines cover the product. The site is a directory. Play leaves it. Whether the next page needs your own files depends on that project, not on the directory.
- The public footer calls it an independent directory and says games run on their creators’ websites.
- Each card can show a cover, tags, input icons, and a length citation. None of that is the game.
- The directory is free to browse. A Ko-fi link is voluntary. I found no paywall on the homepage.
Four ways a card can actually run
SavePoint and the cards I opened use different tags. I keep four buckets and name an example for each, instead of calling everything a port.
- Compiled for the web. Cricket 07 translates the Windows executable to C and then WebAssembly. Its current author page asks you to import the game folder from your own copy. NFS Underground 2’s card describes a recompile of the PC code, with a 120 fps claim.
- Recompiled classic code. Vice City builds point at reVC. GTA III on WASM Arcade points at re3.
- Emulator in the page. The directory tag for emulators counted 47 cards on 4 Nov 2026. DOS, PS2, and PSP rows often sit here.
- New engine. Skate 3 at skate.aaddpp.lol is a Rust project. It is not EA’s code. The project still asks you to own a copy and convert it yourself.
Why a page asks for files
SOCOM II’s card asks for your own disc folder. The joncodeofficial Vice City page asks for one import of game.tar.gz, about 668 MB, and then says the data stays in the browser. Those projects are refusing to redistribute the commercial data. A card that downloads everything itself, such as the GTA V page at fiveplay.lol, is a different choice, and a riskier one. Read safety before you follow it.
The count on the homepage moved in public: a little over 100 on 29 Sep 2026, a little over 150 about a month later, 217 on 16 Oct, 277 on 27 Oct, and 305 on 4 Nov. I am not turning that into a forecast. The word list for decompile versus emulate is on the technical page.

Questions people ask
Does Ported2Browser host the games?
The public footer says games run on their creators’ websites. Play opens another site.
Why do some ports ask for game files?
Projects such as SOCOM II and one Vice City build say they do not ship the copyrighted data. You supply a copy you already have.
Is there a subscription?
The homepage shows a voluntary Ko-fi. I found no subscription price on the public directory.
