Controller support
Start with the card, not with the pad. On 4 Nov 2026 the directory’s input filters showed 200 cards with a gamepad, 304 with a keyboard, and 113 with touch, out of 305.
What the browser can see
Can I use lists the gamepad feature as well established since March 2017, with a 97.24% global support figure: desktop Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari, Chrome for Android, and iOS Safari from 10.3. The browser fires a connect and a disconnect event. That only means the page is allowed to ask which buttons moved. The port still has to read them.

Keys that are written down
Cricket 07’s author currently asks for your own game folder; its batting and bowling keys are on the Cricket page. FIFA Street 2’s card says arrows move, I J K L act as the right stick, and S D A W pass, shoot, cross, and through-ball. Those keys can be changed. The CS 1.6 card says Ctrl crouches only in fullscreen; otherwise use C. Skate 3’s session controls are on the Skate page.
When a phone pad does nothing
- Confirm the card is marked for a gamepad. Black Ops and GTA V are not.
- Open a pad tester in the same browser. If the tester is blank, the port cannot invent a device.
- Click the game tab so it has focus, then try fullscreen.
- On iPhone and iPad, a launch popup can steal the screen. The Portmaster thread points at a content blocker. Close the extra tabs before you blame the pad.
Questions people ask
Will any USB pad work?
I only repeat the public claim: desktop Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari can see a standard pad, and so can Chrome on Android and iOS Safari since 10.3. I am not promising a brand.
Why is my Android pad dead?
Check the card’s gamepad mark first. Then confirm the phone sees the pad on a tester page, that the game tab is focused, and that a popup did not steal the screen.
Which of the big games mention a pad?
Cricket 07, Skate 3, Vice City, FIFA Street 2, and NFS Most Wanted’s online build describe gamepad input. GTA V, Black Ops Zombies, MW2, Simpsons Hit & Run, and CS Surf are marked no.
