PORTED 2 BROWSER

What Reddit actually said

The useful Reddit record is two launch posts by the same account, plus the arguments under them. I am not scraping every subreddit that mentions a game name.

The romhacking post

On r/romhacking the author wrote that they put together a directory with a little over 100 browser ports. Replies include “Interesting stuff. Some good choices here,” a wish for the original Zoo Tycoon, and “it’s shit, doesn’t show uncharted.” Praise and a missing-game complaint are both in the same thread. I leave the tone mixed.

The Portmaster post

The later post says a little over 150 ports. Under it: a question in Portuguese about a Fire Stick; the iPad offline question; the mobile launch complaint quoted on the safety page; a short outage report from Brazil; and a comment that cites MGM v. Grokster to argue that links are not automatically free of responsibility. That last one is a reader’s legal opinion. I am not adopting it as a holding.

Single-game threads

The directory cards also surface newer posts, including a TwentiesofIndia thread about Cricket 07 and threads about Vice City and GTA V. I link those from the game pages when the card shows them. I have not read every comment on those posts, so I do not summarise them here as if I had.

If you want the file and offline columns instead of quotes, use the games table. The source-code index is a different site, covered on the GitHub page.

Questions people ask

Is there a consensus that the site is a scam?

The two launch threads I read do not say that. The sharpest complaints are mobile popups and whether linking commercial games is safe.

Can it run offline on an iPad?

One reply says that is unlikely, with a narrow maybe if a port page already finished downloading and you never leave it. They also say they would not recommend it.

Did the site go down in Brazil?

A comment asked “Site caiu?” and a reply said it was temporarily down, joking about too many visitors from Brazil. That is a downtime report, not a traffic statistic.
